Testing my urinary and saliva pH levels (before and after German Body Comp workouts) with pH sticks

Check this out! I have been currently testing my pH levels in the mornings, later in the day, and after my workouts. Notice how much more acidic my urine gets after a workout. (See it in the right hand side column where it is at 5.75 and 5.5).

Other than that, my pH levels are in a healthy range throughout the day, which is a good thing.

This is what your pH levels should be from day to day:

“If your urinary pH fluctuates between 6.0 to  6.5 in the morning and between 6.5 and 7.0 in the evening, your body is functioning within a healthy range. If your saliva stays between 6.5 and 7.5 all day, your body is functioning within a healthy range.” –NaturalHealthSchool.com

It is not a problem that your pH levels become more acidic after a workout, it is more about how your pH levels normalize again afterwards.

The reason you become more acidic after working out is due to the fact that your muscles produce more lactic acid when you train in the higher repetition ranges of 6-20.

This makes a good point. I took these readings whilst performing Charles Poliquin’s  German Body Comp training programme, which is all about increasing acid levels in the muscles. Doing this allows the body to produce more growth hormone (as a rebound effect) which helps to increase muscle mass and to reduce body fat, along with good diet and lifestyle choices.

See a sample of his German Body Comp training book below: (You can get hold of his book here).
