Bracing support for Pectus Excavatum and Pectus Carinatum is now available in the UK

A few months ago I was googling alternative methods to improve and correct Pectus Excavatum to complement my e-book. My e-book, which I wrote in 2007, is about how to help improve Pectus Excavatum with exercise. The title of the ebook is Pectus Free Without Surgery.

When I hit the search button after typing in “alternative methods to improve and correct Pectus Excavatum”, one of the ads at the top of the search results page (which I rarely ever click on) said something like, “UK bracing support for Pectus Excavatum and Pectus Carinatum.”

I thought to myself, this sounds interesting!, as I knew that bracing support for Pectus was only available in the US and Brazil. Before I clicked on the ad link, I thought to myself, this will take me to some American site for some sort of clinic out there.

But to my amazement, when I clicked it took me here. I then scrolled down the page to see where this clinic was based. The London Orthotic Consultancy clinic is based in Kingston Upon Thames Surrey, which is where I was born!

This clinic – which is the only one in UK and Europe that makes bracing support for Pectus Excavatum and Pectus Carinatum – was only 10-minutes from where I was born, and I knew nothing about it!

For years I have walked passed the building where London Orthotic Consultancy clinic is based, either going out with my friends at night, or doing a bit of shopping in the main town centre.

Even though the London Orthotic Consultancy clinic has been based there since around 2004, they have only been working with Pectus Patients since 2010. If you want to know more on how the LOC clinic started working with Pectus patients click here. It is also proof that they are the only clinic in the UK and Europe that’s currently doing this type of treatment.

As I’m the only person to put an e-book together to improve Pectus Excavatum with exercise, I had to get in touch with this clinic to see if I could help out in any way. I finally got to meet with Sam Walmsley, who mainly deals with the Pectus patients.

Here’s at bit more on Sam taken from the London Orthotic Consultancy website.

“Sam qualified in 2001 with a degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Salford University. After graduating he took up a post as orthotist at Basingstoke NHS trust where he received post-graduate training in paediatric orthotics. He later joined the team at Queen Mary’s Hospital, London and developed wider skills which included Adult and Paediatric Neuro rehabilitation and complex foot and ankle orthotics. He is also a fully qualified Vabene posture therapist.”
